Ms. D. Sabitha is an officer from the 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service. She has done her M.Phil in Commerce from Madras University with specialisation in Capital Budgeting and has also completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policies from Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands.
Prior to her retirement in 2019, she held many important assignments in the sectors of Industries, Finance, Textiles, Education, General Administration in the Government of Tamil Nadu. She has gained rich experience in developing industrial infrastructure as Chairman and Managing Director of State Industries Promotion Corporation (SIPCOT) and Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation (TANCEM). As Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) she developed expertise in funding of infrastructure projects in the MSME sector and as Chief Operating Officer of TANSTIA-FNF Service Centre and Executive Director of Handloom Export Promotion Council she has facilitated private equity investments in many industrial infrastructure projects particularly in the manufacturing sector in Tamil Nadu.
She has also worked very closely with various agencies and NGO’s in her posting as the Director of Social Welfare and thereby has sound knowledge of the social sector. Her stint for six year as Principal, Secretary School Education has given her tremendous experience in policy making at the highest level and coordinated implementation of projects with the different departments of the government.
With this vast experience of over 3 decades in various sectors in Government she has the capability and ability to access to and understand the nuances of infrastructure projects that are proposed to be taken up under TNIF and TNSF. Her exposure to evaluation, funding, implementing, and monitoring of projects during her tenure as an administrator is a value add to TNIFMC. Her coming on board as Chief Project Officer will help bridge the gap between the Government and TNIFMC and create a funnel of viable and investible infrastructure projects.
